For the fourth time in six years, the most read verse on the popular YouVersion Bible app is one reminding users that God is with them, even in the midst of trials.

YouVersion announced Thursday that Isaiah 41:10 was the most engaged-with verse of 2025, which the ministry said was a “testament to the enduring need for God’s reassurance in uncertain times.”

That Old Testament passage reads in the NIV, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

“I think this verse keeps rising to the top because it addresses one of our deepest needs, the assurance that we’re not alone,” said Bobby Gruenewald, founder and CEO of YouVersion. “In a world full of anxiety and uncertainty, people are drawn to God’s promise to be with us, to strengthen us, and to help us. That message never gets old because the need for it is universal and timeless.”

Isaiah 41:10 also was the most engaged-with verse in 2023, 2022, and 2020. Last year’s most popular verse was Philippians 4:6: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

YouVersion recently celebrated 1 billion downloads, roughly 17 years after the Bible app debuted on the first day of Apple’s App Store in 2008.

The app is more popular than ever, with 2025 marking its strongest year yet. In fact, each Sunday in the month of November was among the highest engagement days in YouVersion’s history, with the month’s first Sunday setting a new benchmark with more than 19 million people opening the app in a single day.

On New Year’s Day 2025, more than 3 million people subscribed to one-year Bible Plans – an 18 percent increase over 2024.

Bible engagement rose across every global region in 2025. Daily activity grew 27 percent in Sub-Saharan Africa and climbed 33 percent in North Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia. Even in North America – the app’s largest market – daily engagement grew by 14 percent.

“We’re witnessing a global movement. People are hungry for what’s real and true,” Gruenewald said. “The Bible stands alone as the source of truth, carefully passed from generation to generation. It’s alive and active, and relevant to our everyday lives. These numbers represent millions of changed lives – people finding hope, direction, and purpose in God’s Word.”
